Tournaments and Participation

Students at the Manchester School of Tae Kwon Do participate in several open tournaments each year. By taking part in these events, the student is better able to match his skills and training with students from other schools and styles, and take the opportunity to learn about other disciplines. Martial artists take the opportunity to challenge themselves in competitions that include Kata, Weapons, Breaking, and Sparring. More importantly, as we discover the differences in various styles of martial arts, we recognize what is common to each martial art; the dedication, hard work, and perseverance that is a requirement to succeed, whether in Tae Kwon Do, Kenpo, Kung Fu, or any of the numerous styles available.

Further, we recognize the best within ourselves and fellow competitors at Tournament. This leads to mutual respect, better understanding of martial arts in general, and many many times, to the forming of long term friendships between competitors.
