For the purpose of facing the correct direction I will use the following "code": when you start the form A is in front of you, B is to your left, C is to your right, and D is behind you. Any combination of these letters will be a diagonal movement. (ex. AB is to the forward diagonal left.) AB A AC B x C BD D CD "x" is the starting position. You will always be facing A to start Start Toi Gye in the A-closed ready position (left hand covering right fist, at navel level) 1 Turning 90° to the left step into a right L-stance while executing a middle guarding block with the left hand.(Kiyai) 2 Slide your left foot over into a left front stance (still facing the same way)while executing a fingertip strike to the groin with the reverse hand (right hand) 3 Slide your left foot to your right foot (facing the "front" of the room)simultaniously execute a low block with the left hand and a backfist sidestrike with your right hand. 4 Turning 90° to the right step into a left L-stance while executing a middle guarding block with the right hand. 5 Slide your right foot over into a right front stance (still facing the same way)while executing a fingertip strike to the groin with the reverse hand (left hand) 6 Slide your right foot to your left foot (facing the "front" of the room)simultaniously execute a low block with the right hand and a backfist sidestrike with your left hand. 7 Step forward into a left front stance while executing a low x block. 8 While maintaining the same stance execute a high double fist to the temple. 9 Keep your hands in the same position they were in move 8 and execute a high front snap kick with your right foot. 10 Landing in a right front stance, execute a midsection punch with your right fist. 11 Maintaining stance, execute a reverse midsection punch with your left fist. 12 Slide your left foot to your right and turn your body 90° (facing what would have originally been your left side from chun bi position) while executing a double side elbow strike. 13 Step your right foot out into a horse stance while executing a W-shaped block (counterclockwise) (your body should be facing what would be the back of the room from your original chun bi stance) 14 Step your left foot out into a horse stance while executing a W-shaped block (clockwise) (continuing in same direction. Your body should now be facing the front the of the room) 15 Step your left foot back in the opposite direction (clockwise)into a horse stance while executing a W-shaped block(body facing back of room) 16 Step your right foot into a horse stance while executing a W-shaped block. (counterclockwise) (front of room) 17 Step your left foot into a horse stance while executing a W-shaped block (clockwise) (back of room) 18 Step your left foot back in the opposite direction (clockwise) into a horse stance while executing a W shaped block (body facing front of room) **The last 6 moves (w-shaped blocks in horse stances) should follow this step pattern: 2 to the left, 3 to the right, & 1 back to the left) stepping on a parallel line** 19 Slide right foot to left and step out left foot into a left L-stance (facing the front of the room) while executing a low Sudo Marki guarding block. 20 Slide your left foot into a left front stance. Place your hands out in front of you grabbing your "opponents" head, readying for a knee to the head. 21 Pull your "opponents" head down and strike in the head with your reverse (right) knee.(Kiyai) 22 Following knee strike place right foot down next to left and turn 180° (facing back of room) step out into a right L-stance while executing a Sudo Marki 23 Maintaining right L-stance execute a front snap kick off the forward (left) leg. 24 step down into a left front stance while executing a high fingertip thrust with the left hand. 25 Shift forward into a Left L-stance while executing a Sudo Marki 26 While maintaining the stance execute a front snap kick off the forward (right) leg. 27 Drop down into a right front stance while executing a high fingertip thrust with the right hand. 28 Shift back into a right L-stance while simultainiously executing a low block (left hand) and a backfist sidestrike with the right hand. 29 Jump to your forward left diagonal (jump is for height, not distance) land in a x-stance(left foot forward) while executing a low x-block 30 Step out with the right foot into a right front stance while executing a double forearm guarding block. (Left foot will stay planted and you will still be facing "back" of room) 31 Turning 270° counterclockwise (pivot on right foot) land in a right L stance while executing a low sudo marki. 32 Slide left foot out into a left front stance while executing a circular block with the reverse hand (right). (block is done to the right front diagonal) 33 Turning 180° slide your left foot to your right. Step out into a left L-stance while executing low sudo marki. 34 Slide your right foot forward into a right front stance while executing a circular block with the reverse hand (left). (block is done to the left front diagonal) 35 Keep your feet where they are, but pivot them 90° counterclockwise so that they are facing the front of the room. Execute a circular block with the reverse hand (right) (block is to the right front diagonal) 36 Once again, keep your feet where they are, but pivot them 90° clockwise so that you are now facing to the right. Execute a circular blcok with the reverse hand (left) (block is to the left front diagonal) 37 Move right foot forward into horse stance (facing front of room) execute a mid section punch with the right hand (Kiyai) Step back into Closed ready position B |
